In challenging times such as these, experiences of healing and harmony in human communities are more important than ever. This workshop introduces a practical methodology that fosters empathic understanding, mutuality, and reconciliation of gender-based tensions in human communities. The methodology was developed by Gender, Equity and Reconciliation International (GERI), and has been applied across the globe for reconciliation of polarized issues between women and men, and people of all genders. Although not directly applicable to today’s political tensions, this methodology has been applied experimentally in other contexts including: reconciling tensions within the environmental activist community, bridging differences across world religions, and fostering mutual understanding and empathy between Palestinians and Israelis. After a brief overview of the approach with examples, the bulk of this workshop will be an experiential introduction to the methodology as it is applied to gender healing and reconciliation.
